NUTR 110 - BASIC NUTRITION

Prerequisite: Approved reading placement score, or equivalent. This course is a study of basic nutrition to help the student acquire relevant information about nutrition, which they can use professionally and/or personally. The course will cover the practical aspects of normal nutrition, ways to promote sound eating habits throughout the life cycle, and physiological contributions nutrients make to body structure and function. NUTR 120 - PRINCIPLES OF NUTRITION

Prerequisite: Approved reading placement score, or equivalent. This course is a study of scientific principles related to nutrition. It covers the role of specific nutrients, their sources, the role they play in digestion, absorption, metabolism, and nutritional requirements of individuals during different stages throughout their life cycle. (Formerly FCS 120)

NUTR 210  - PROFESSIONAL TOPICS IN THE DIETETICS FIELD

Prerequisite: Dietetics as declared program of study and NUTR 120 with a grade of C or better or department approval. An introduction to the profession of Dietetics that will include the history of the profession, current issues, career opportunities, recommended college courses, role in the healthcare field, scope of practice, code of ethics, professional associations, leadership skills and professionalism, and gaining field-related experience during the college years.
