CMNET 140 - WINDOWS ADMINISTRATION

This course provides students with the knowledge and skills required to deploy, configure, secure, manage, and monitor Microsoft Windows devices and client applications in an enterprise environment.

This course is aligned to CompTIA's A+ certification.

CMNET 151 - OPERATING SYSTEMS – A+

This is one of two courses designed to provide students with the latest skills needed by today's computer support professionals. Instruction includes but is not limited to: installing and configuring operating systems including Windows, iOS, Android, macOS, and Linux. It also addresses security, the fundamentals of cloud computing and operational procedures. This course is aligned to CompTIA's A+ certification.

CMNET 160 - INTRODUCTION TO NETWORK SECURITY

Prerequisite: CMWEB 110 with a grade of "C" or better or CMCIS 151 with a grade of "C" or better, or concurrent enrollment or department approval. This course will provide an introduction to network security issues. Intended as a survey course, the material covered in this class will provide broad-based knowledge necessary to prepare students for further study in specialized areas of security. Topics covered will include but not be limited to authentication, remote access, intrusion detection, disaster recovery planning, security forensics, and security issues involved in email, web, and wireless networks.

CMNET 175 - AWS CLOUD FOUNDATIONS

Prerequisite: CMNET 150, CMNET 151, and CMNET 140 all with a grade of “C” or better (or concurrent enrollment) or department approval. This course is intended for students who seek an overall understanding of cloud computing concepts, independent of specific technical roles. Using Amazon Web Services (AWS), it provides a detailed overview of cloud concepts, AWS core services, security, architecture, and support. This course assists in the preparation for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification.

CMNET 210 - WINDOWS SERVER

This course is the first of three courses designed to provide students with hands-on knowledge and skills using Windows Server. Instruction includes but is not limited to installation, local and remote management, file and storage services, Hyper-V virtualization, and high availability. This course is aligned to Microsoft's MCSA Windows Server certification.

CMNET 220 - WINDOWS SERVER NETWORKING

Prerequisite: CMNET 210 with a grade of "C" or better or department approval. This course is the second of three courses designed to provide students with hands-on knowledge and skills using Windows Server. Instruction includes but is not limited to TCP/IP addressing, DNS configuration, DHCP configuration, remote access, distributed file-sharing solutions, and advanced network features configuration. This course is aligned to Microsoft's MCSA Windows Server certification.

CMNET 230 - WINDOWS SERVER IDENTITY

Prerequisite: CMNET 210 with a grade of "C" or better or department approval. This course is the third of three courses designed to provide students with hands-on knowledge and skills using Windows Server. Instruction is focused on Windows Server identity management and includes but is not limited to Active Directory OUs and accounts, Group Policy and preferences, domain controller and Active Directory management, Certificate Services, and advanced identity solutions. This course is aligned to Microsoft's MCSA Windows Server certification.

CMNET 240 - VMWARE VSPEHERE

Prerequisite: CMNET 210 with a grade of "C" or better or department approval. This course focuses on installing, configuring, and managing VMware vSphere which includes VMware ESXi and VMware vCenter Server. This course prepares you to administer a scalable vSphere infrastructure for an organization of any size. This course is aligned to the VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization certification.

CMNET 250 - ADVANCED SECURITY TOPICS

Prerequisite: CMNET 230 with a "C" or better or department approval. This course is designed to teach the fundamentals of securing Windows servers that are connected to corporate networks and the internet. In addition to learning the fundamentals of designing a secure framework, students will learn how to secure computers based on their function, how to secure the network management process, and how to configure group policies and administrative functions to increase ease of maintenance while retaining high levels of security. Students will learn the fundamentals of scripting with an emphasis on PowerShell, how to use existing scripts to assist in rapid deployment of security fixes and documentation, how to write scripts to interface with the operating system, and how to document scripts so they can be maintained by others. Students will learn terminology associated with security, scripting, and the fundamentals of risk assessment and management. Lecture and laboratory hours per week will vary depending upon the credit given and the course content in each section offered, this course is repeatable up to a maximum of four total hours of credit.

CMNET 260 - NETWORKING INTERNSHIP

Prerequisite: Department approval. In cooperation with the Internship Coordinator, each student is assisted in locating an appropriate training station where a minimum of fifteen hours per week of on-the-job work experience is provided. The student's work will include those experiences which involve hands-on computer experience. This course may be repeated one time; however, it may be used only once to fulfill the requirement for an Associate in Applied Science degree.

CMNET 270 - MESSAGING INFRASTRUCTURE ADMINISTRATION

Prerequisite: CMNET 210 with a grade of "C" or better and CMNET 220 with a grade of "C" or better (or concurrent enrollment) and CMNET 230 with a grade of "C" or better (or concurrent enrollment) or department approval. This course provides students with the knowledge and skills that are needed to update and support a reliable, secure messaging infrastructure. This infrastructure is used for creating, storing, and sharing information by using a messaging server (e.g., Microsoft Exchange Server) in a medium-sized to large-sized messaging environment. This course offers hands-on practices, discussions, and assessments that assist students in becoming proficient in the skills that are needed to update and support a messaging server.
